Apixaban

Mechanism of action:

Apixaban is a direct factor Xa inhibitor. During the coagulation process, factor Xa is responsible for converting prothrombin into thrombin, and thrombin then converts fibrinogen into fibrin to form blood clots. Apixaban reversibly inhibits the function of factor Xa.
