Azithromycin

Mechanism of action:

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that acts on the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit. It binds near the exit tunnel region of 23S rRNA and blocks peptide chain elongation, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and leading to bacterial growth arrest.
