Clomipramine
Mechanism of action:
Clomipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant. Clomipramine primarily inhibits the serotonin transporter and secondarily inhibits the norepinephrine transporter, thereby blocking the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. This enhances the signaling mediated by these two neurotransmitters and reduces depressive and obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
