Ganirelix
Mechanism of action:
Ganirelix is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist and a synthetic decapeptide. Ganirelix competitively binds to gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptors and blocks the action of endogenous gonadotropin-releasing hormone. Once gonadotropin-releasing hormone signaling is inhibited, secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary rapidly decreases.
