Kanamycin


Mechanism of action:

Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It binds to 16S rRNA on the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, causing the ribosome to misread mRNA codons. This disrupts translation or leads to the production of abnormal, nonfunctional proteins, ultimately resulting in bacterial death.
