Nifedipine

Mechanism of action:

Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker and a dihydropyridine derivative. Nifedipine primarily acts on vascular smooth muscle cells by blocking L-type calcium channels, reducing the influx of calcium ions into the cytoplasm. This causes vascular smooth muscle relaxation and lowers blood pressure.
