Quazepam


Mechanism of action:

Quazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative. Quazepam binds to the benzodiazepine binding site on GABA_A receptors in the central nervous system, thereby enhancing GABAergic inhibitory activity. When GABA binds to these receptors, chloride (Cl-) channels open, causing hyperpolarization of the neuronal membrane. This reduces neuronal excitability and diminishes excessive activation in the limbic system and cerebral cortex.
