Rivaroxaban

Mechanism of action:
Rivaroxaban is a direct factor Xa inhibitor. During coagulation, factor Xa is responsible for converting prothrombin into thrombin. Thrombin then converts fibrinogen into fibrin, resulting in thrombus formation. Rivaroxaban reversibly inhibits the function of factor Xa, reducing thrombin generation and fibrin formation and thereby lowering the likelihood of thrombus formation.
