Telmisartan


Mechanism of action:

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker. Angiotensin II normally acts through the AT1 receptor to promote vascular smooth muscle contraction and raise blood pressure. By blocking the AT1 receptor, telmisartan causes peripheral vasodilation, reduces systemic vascular resistance, and suppresses the pressor signaling mediated by angiotensin II.
