Triazolam

Mechanism of action:
Triazolam is a 1,4-benzodiazepine derivative. It binds to the benzodiazepine-binding site of the GABA_A receptor, increasing the affinity of GABA for its receptor and raising the frequency of chloride channel opening. This leads to chloride influx into neurons, causing membrane hyperpolarization, which is associated with central inhibitory effects such as sedation, hypnosis, anxiolysis, and anticonvulsant activity.
