Could Life from Earth Cross Space and Reach Europa's Subsurface Ocean?

Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, has long been regarded as one of the most promising places to search for life in the Solar System. Its surface is covered by a thick layer of ice, beneath which may lie an enormous ocean of liquid water. If this ocean has suitable chemical conditions, accessible energy sources, and long-term environmental stability, microorganisms could potentially survive there. Yet if life does exist on Europa, it may not necessarily have originated there independently. Astrobiologist Zaza Osmanov has proposed that terrestrial bacteria might become enclosed within tiny dust grains, escape from Earth, travel through interplanetary space, land on Europa's icy surface, and possibly make their way into its subsurface ocean.
