Abacavir

Mechanism of action:
Abacavir is converted by cellular enzymes after entering the cell into carbovir triphosphate. This molecule is structurally similar to deoxyguanosine-5'-triphosphate (dGTP) and competes with it. However, because carbovir triphosphate lacks a 3'-OH group, it terminates viral reverse transcriptase-mediated DNA synthesis.
