Abiraterone acetate
Mechanism of action:
Abiraterone acetate is converted in the body into the active form, abiraterone. Cytochrome P450 17A1 (CYP17A1) possesses both 17α-hydroxylase and 17,20-lyase activities and is a key enzyme involved in androgen synthesis. Abiraterone inhibits the enzymatic function of CYP17A1, thereby interfering with androgen production.
