Alendronate

Mechanism of action:

Alendronate is taken up by osteoclasts and inhibits the function of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS), leading to osteoclast dysfunction and apoptosis. As a result, bone resorption is reduced and bone mineral density increases.
