Amobarbital

Mechanism of action:

Amobarbital is a barbiturate that acts on the barbiturate binding site of the GABA_A receptor in the central nervous system, enhancing GABAergic inhibitory activity. It prolongs the opening time of chloride (Cl⁻) channels, causing neuronal membrane hyperpolarization and reducing neuronal excitability.
