Amoxicillin

Mechanism of action:

Amoxicillin binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell membrane and blocks the transpeptidase reaction, preventing cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains. This disrupts the integrity of the bacterial cell wall, causing the bacteria to lyse and die under osmotic pressure.
