Anidulafungin

Mechanism of action:

Anidulafungin is an echinocandin derivative. It acts by noncompetitively inhibiting 1,3-β-D-glucan synthase in the fungal cell wall, thereby blocking the synthesis of 1,3-β-D-glucan. Since this glucan is a major structural component of the fungal cell wall, anidulafungin weakens the cell wall, causes osmotic instability, and leads to fungal cell swelling and rupture.
