Atazanavir

Mechanism of action:

Atazanavir binds to the active site of HIV-1 protease. During viral replication, this protease is responsible for cleaving viral polyprotein precursors, including gag and gag-pol polyproteins, into functional enzymatic proteins. Atazanavir prevents the formation of these mature proteins, causing newly produced viral particles to remain immature and noninfectious.
