Brompheniramine

Mechanism of action:

Brompheniramine is a first-generation H₁ receptor antagonist belonging to the alkylamine class. Brompheniramine binds to H₁ receptors and blocks the physiological effects associated with histamine-induced allergic reactions. In addition, brompheniramine primarily blocks central and peripheral muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, including M₁ to M₃, thereby reducing glandular secretions such as dry mouth and dry nasal passages, and it also has mild sedative and drowsiness-related effects.
