Capreomycin

Mechanism of action:
Capreomycin is a cyclic peptide antibiotic. Capreomycin binds to the 70S ribosomal complex of Mycobacterium tuberculosis at the interface between the 50S and 30S subunits, blocking translocation and peptide chain elongation during translation. Because bacterial protein synthesis is inhibited, the bacteria are unable to grow.
