Carboprost tromethamine

Mechanism of action:

Carboprost tromethamine is an analog of prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF2alpha). Carboprost tromethamine binds to prostaglandin F receptors on uterine smooth muscle cells and activates the phospholipase Cbeta-IP3-Ca2+ pathway, increasing cytosolic Ca2+ concentration and causing strong uterine smooth muscle contraction.
