Choriogonadotropin alfa
Mechanism of action:
Choriogonadotropin alfa is recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin (rhCG) and can mimic the action of luteinizing hormone (LH). In ovarian granulosa cells and theca cells, choriogonadotropin alfa binds to the LH/CG receptor and activates the same signaling pathways triggered by luteinizing hormone. This stimulates adenylyl cyclase, increases cAMP levels, and promotes follicular maturation, ovulation, corpus luteum formation, and increased progesterone secretion.
