Clarithromycin

Mechanism of action:

Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic and a derivative of erythromycin. Clarithromycin reversibly binds to the 23S rRNA of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit and blocks the translocation step during peptide chain elongation, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis.
