Clindamycin

Mechanism of action:

Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic. Clindamycin reversibly binds to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, particularly to the peptidyl transferase center of 23S rRNA. This prevents peptide chain elongation and interferes with translocation, thereby blocking protein synthesis and inhibiting bacterial growth.
