Dalfopristin

Mechanism of action:
Dalfopristin is a streptogramin antibiotic and is commonly used in combination with quinupristin. Dalfopristin binds to the peptidyl transferase center of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing elongation of the nascent peptide chain. It also alters ribosomal conformation, significantly increasing the binding affinity of quinupristin and thereby inhibiting protein synthesis.
