Dexlansoprazole

Mechanism of action:

Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor and a benzimidazole derivative. It is a prodrug that is converted within the acidic secretory canaliculi of gastric parietal cells into its active sulfenamide form. This sulfenamide forms covalent bonds with the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase proton pump, irreversibly inhibiting proton secretion and thereby blocking gastric acid production.
