Dirithromycin

Mechanism of action:
Dirithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It is converted in the body into the active metabolite erythromycyclamine. This metabolite binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and blocks translocation during peptide chain elongation, thereby interrupting protein synthesis.
