Domperidone

Mechanism of action:

Domperidone is a dopamine D₂ receptor antagonist. Domperidone mainly acts on the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) in the medulla. When the CTZ is stimulated by drugs such as dopamine agonists or chemotherapeutic agents, it can trigger nausea and vomiting. Domperidone blocks D₂ receptors in this region, suppressing activation of the vomiting center and reducing initiation of the nausea and vomiting reflex.
