Donepezil

Mechanism of action:

Donepezil is a centrally acting acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Donepezil reversibly inhibits acetylcholinesterase in the central nervous system, preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine within the synaptic cleft. This increases synaptic acetylcholine levels and enhances cholinergic neurotransmission between neurons.
