Doripenem

Mechanism of action:

Doripenem is a β-lactam antibiotic belonging to the carbapenem class. The β-lactam ring of doripenem binds to bacterial penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and inhibits their transpeptidase activity, preventing cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains. This weakens the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to osmotic rupture and bacterial death.
