Doxycycline

Mechanism of action:

Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic. Doxycycline reversibly binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing aminoacyl-tRNA from binding to the mRNA-ribosome complex. As a result, new amino acids cannot be added to the growing peptide chain, and protein synthesis is inhibited.
