Elvitegravir

Mechanism of action:

Elvitegravir is a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) integrase strand transfer inhibitor. After reverse transcription, HIV produces double-stranded DNA, which must be inserted into the host chromosome by integrase before the virus can proceed with transcription and replication. Elvitegravir selectively binds to the active site of integrase and blocks the strand transfer reaction between viral DNA and host DNA.
