Eslicarbazepine

Mechanism of action:
Eslicarbazepine selectively binds to sodium channels in the inactivated state and prolongs the time required for the channel to recover to the activatable state. As a result, neurons are less able to sustain action potential firing during high-frequency stimulation, reducing the likelihood of excessive neuronal discharge.
