Famciclovir

Mechanism of action:
Famciclovir is a nucleoside analogue and a prodrug of penciclovir. Famciclovir is rapidly converted in the liver and intestines into penciclovir, which is then further converted into the active form, penciclovir triphosphate. This active metabolite competes with dGTP and selectively inhibits viral DNA polymerase, preventing efficient viral replication.
