Felodipine

Mechanism of action:

Felodipine is a calcium channel blocker and belongs to the dihydropyridine class of calcium channel blockers. Felodipine selectively blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, preventing calcium ions from entering vascular smooth muscle cells and lowering intracellular calcium concentration, which relaxes vascular smooth muscle and thereby reduces peripheral vascular resistance.
