Fenoldopam

Mechanism of action:

Fenoldopam is a selective dopamine D₁ receptor agonist. Fenoldopam activates D₁ receptors on vascular smooth muscle. Because D₁ receptors are Gs protein-coupled receptors, their activation increases cAMP levels and causes vascular smooth muscle relaxation, especially in the renal, mesenteric, coronary, and peripheral vasculature.
