Fusidic acid

Mechanism of action:
Fusidic acid is a steroidal antibiotic. Fusidic acid specifically binds to the complex formed between bacterial elongation factor G and the ribosome, preventing elongation factor G from dissociating from the ribosome after GTP hydrolysis. This blocks ribosomal translocation and forces peptide chain synthesis to stop.
