Guanabenz

Mechanism of action:
Guanabenz is an α₂-adrenergic agonist. Guanabenz activates α₂ receptors in the brainstem, especially in the medullary vasomotor center, inhibiting the release of norepinephrine and reducing sympathetic stimulation of the heart and blood vessels. This leads to a decrease in heart rate and cardiac output, thereby lowering peripheral vascular resistance and circulatory workload.
