Imipramine

Mechanism of action:

Imipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant and belongs to the dibenzazepine derivatives. Imipramine inhibits the function of the norepinephrine transporter and the serotonin transporter, increasing the concentrations of norepinephrine and serotonin (5-HT) in the synaptic cleft. This enhances central nervous system neurotransmission and is associated with reducing depressive symptoms.
