Indapamide

Mechanism of action:

Indapamide is a thiazide-like diuretic. Indapamide mainly acts on the distal convoluted tubule of the kidney, inhibiting the Na⁺/Cl⁻ cotransporter and thereby reducing the reabsorption of sodium and chloride ions. This promotes the excretion of sodium and water, lowers blood volume and cardiac output, and reduces circulatory load and peripheral vascular resistance.
