Isradipine


Mechanism of action:

Isradipine is a calcium channel blocker and belongs to the dihydropyridine class. It binds to L-type calcium channels on the membrane of vascular smooth muscle cells, inhibiting calcium influx from the extracellular space into the cell and lowering intracellular calcium concentration. This leads to relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and a reduction in blood pressure.
