Maprotiline

Mechanism of action:

Maprotiline is a tetracyclic antidepressant. Maprotiline primarily inhibits the norepinephrine transporter, increasing norepinephrine concentrations in the synaptic cleft and enhancing norepinephrine-mediated signaling in the central nervous system. In contrast, its inhibitory effect on the serotonin transporter is very weak.
