Mepivacaine

Mechanism of action:
Mepivacaine is an amide derivative. Mepivacaine enters nerve cells through the neuronal membrane and binds to the inner side of sodium channels, inhibiting sodium influx during depolarization. As a result, the nerve membrane cannot reach the threshold for depolarization, and action potentials cannot be generated or propagated forward. Consequently, pain, touch, and temperature signals cannot be transmitted to the central nervous system.
