Metaxalone
Mechanism of action:
Metaxalone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant and an oxazolidinone derivative. The exact molecular mechanism of metaxalone has not been fully clarified, but it is thought to suppress polysynaptic reflex activity at the brainstem and spinal cord levels, thereby reducing neural signaling that promotes muscle tone. Metaxalone does not directly affect the contractile mechanism of skeletal muscle.
