Midodrine

Mechanism of action:

Midodrine is a selective α₁-adrenergic agonist. Midodrine is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in the body into its main active metabolite, desglymidodrine. Desglymidodrine activates α₁ receptors on the smooth muscle of small arteries and veins, triggering vascular smooth muscle contraction, increasing systemic peripheral resistance, and raising blood pressure.
