Minoxidil

Mechanism of action:

Minoxidil is a pyrimidine derivative. The detailed mechanism of minoxidil is not yet fully clear, but it is known to open ATP-sensitive potassium channels, causing hyperpolarization of vascular smooth muscle and leading to vasodilation. Some studies also suggest that minoxidil promotes dermal papilla cell proliferation and suppresses apoptotic signaling.
