Muromonab CD3
Mechanism of action:
Muromonab-CD3 is an anti-CD3 murine monoclonal antibody. Muromonab-CD3 specifically binds to the CD3/TCR complex on T cells, transiently triggering the release of large amounts of cytokines such as IL-2, TNF-α, and IFN-γ, which may cause cytokine release syndrome. However, after sustained binding to CD3, muromonab-CD3 induces endocytosis of the CD3/TCR complex, promotes apoptosis due to signaling imbalance, or triggers antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis of these T cells by macrophages. This results in a marked reduction of mature peripheral blood T cells.
