Nizatidine

Mechanism of action:

Nizatidine is a histamine H₂-receptor antagonist. Under normal conditions, histamine binds to the H₂ receptor and activates adenylyl cyclase, leading to an increase in cAMP and subsequent stimulation of the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase proton pump to secrete gastric acid. Nizatidine competitively antagonizes the H₂ receptor and inhibits this mechanism.
