Norfloxacin

Mechanism of action:
Norfloxacin is a first-generation quinolone derivative. Norfloxacin binds to the DNA gyrase complex, which is bacterial topoisomerase II, and prevents the enzyme from rejoining DNA strands, leading to bacterial DNA breaks. Norfloxacin also partially inhibits the activity of topoisomerase IV, preventing proper separation and replication of bacterial DNA.
