Nortriptyline

Mechanism of action:

Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant. Nortriptyline inhibits the norepinephrine transporter primarily and the serotonin transporter secondarily, preventing the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin (5-HT). As a result, their concentrations in the synaptic cleft increase, enhancing the actions of these neurotransmitters.
